"10-33!" When a member of the law enforcement community hears this code transmitted over the radio, he or she will likely drop whatever they are doing and listen intently. Their pulse will quicken as they wait for the next transmission. "10-33" is the radio code that represents a request for emergency assistance. When an officer uses this code, or its equivalent, he or she needs help. The officer might be in a fight, a shooting, administering CPR to a child not breathing, or involved in any one of a number of critical incidents.
On-duty situations are not the only times officers might find themselves in need of assistance. They may put out the call for assistance as they face a life-threatening illness-their own or a loved ones. They may put out the call as they recuperate from an on-duty injury. Or they may put out the call in the wake of a natural disaster, such as Hurricane Katrina.
In order to provide practical support to members of the law enforcement family, whenever or from wherever the call comes, Ten-Four Ministries has established the "10-33" Fund. This fund is dedicated to providing financial support to members of the law enforcement family (sworn, reserve, or civilian), in times of need.
